It’s here!

Our 2019 season is full of exciting works by familiar and new playwrights. We celebrate the position we are in to feature emerging artists, provide opportunities on and off stage, and participate in another year of art here in Victoria.

We start our season with In On It by Daniel MacIvor, April 5, 6, 12, & 13. It explores a spiralling narrative about a dying man trying to make plans for the end, a pair of lovers trying to make it work, and two men trying to make a play. A world where accidents happen. A story about control. A play that keeps its options open.

Next we take on Constellations by Nick Payne, July 5, 6, 12, & 13. This spellbinding, romantic journey begins with a simple encounter between a man and a woman. But what happens next defies the boundaries of the world we think we know—delving into the infinite possibilities of their relationship and raising questions about the difference between choice and destiny.

Our final show of the season is Be Still  by Janet Munsil, November 22, 23, 29, & 30. A fictional play inspired by the multiple-exposure work of Victorian photographer Hannah Maynard. Consumed by grief at the loss of her daughter, Hannah submerges herself in morbid photographic work and the clockwork routines of daily life with her husband. Intrigued by a friend’s Spiritualist leanings, Hannah questions mysterious goings-on in her studio, and wonders if a reunion with her child is possible.
